It started with a delivery of food-parcels back in 2021, since then the partnership between MiTek South Africa and CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation has blossomed.
CHOC recently created a video to celebrate the partnership that supports them to deliver critical services to children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders, and their families.
MiTek has supported the charity in many ways, from providing crucial nutritional aid to families facing both cancer and poverty, to funding transport, accommodation and emotional care programmes.
CHOC House in Centurion was revamped by the hands of the MiTek team in their spare time. The house has created a home away from home for those going through cancer treatment.
The charity aims to save lives through early detection and comprehensive psychosocial, emotional and practical support programmes. The organisation’s vital work is only possible through sponsorship and donations.
MiTek’s social impact
MiTek is committed to supporting people and giving back to local communities. Our social impact strategy, created in 2018, aims to do just that.
The strategy rests on three pillars:
- Educate to innovate: Giving people the skills to thrive in knowledge-intensive jobs.
- Shelter humanity: Providing safe, inclusive spaces for people to live, work, and play.
- Protect our planet: Safeguarding the environment and championing sustainability.
CHOC is one of several organisations we work alongside to create lasting positive change where it is most needed.
Ina Schomper, Regional Manager, CHOC Cancer Foundation Northern Region, said: “Thank you so much for your support. Together, we keep more than hope alive for all our children, teens, and their families facing the cancer journey or a life-threatening blood disorder.”
