MiTek South Africa has introduced a sheeting calculator within its PAMIR design software, developed to make roof sheeting take-offs faster, simpler, and more accurate for customers.

The new functionality was designed to support customers who, until now, often had to export their roof layouts to third-party software or manually draw out each section to calculate sheeting quantities. The calculation was often complex and time consuming, but the calculator tool has changed things:

“The tool automatically calculates and applies the roof sheeting directly within PAMIR,” explains Julian Vyver, MiTek South Africa’s Technical Support Manager. “It recognises the roof geometry and generates precise take-offs for corrugated, IBR, or concealed-fix sheeting. Customers can export this straight into Excel to share with contractors or quantity surveyors, ready to use without any rework.”

Developed initially to make life easier for fabricators and contractors, the feature allows users to specify sheet lengths, materials, and cover widths instantly. “Before this, our customers would often redraw entire roofs in another system just to work out their sheeting quantities,” says Julian. “Now, it’s automatic, accurate, and available directly in their design environment.”

The result is a significant time saving for those who produce large or complex roof structures, from residential housing through to commercial warehouses. “What used to take half a week can now be done in seconds,” Julian adds. “It’s one of those small improvements that makes a big difference to how our clients work.”

MiTek South Africa’s ongoing investment in its PAMIR software reflects its wider commitment to helping customers design, make, and build more efficiently. By bringing practical digital tools into everyday workflows, the company continues to strengthen its promise of partnership and support.
